Worker Dies of Electrocution During Power Extension

Nov 15, Kathmandu - A wage laborer working on an electricity distribution project has died of electrocution.

Jaya Kumar Yadav, 28, of Gobaraiya, Sonma-3, in the same district, who was working in Bharatpur and Batuwa settlements of Gaushala Municipality-9 and 10, has died at the Provincial Hospital, Janakpurdham, his family said.

Yadav, a wage laborer at the power extension of construction company Tata Supply, was electrocuted while pulling a wire on Friday based on information that the power line had been cut. He was immediately taken to the primary health center Gaushala, but after treatment was not possible, he was taken to the Janakpur Provincial Hospital and was declared dead by the doctors.

Chief District Officer Indradev Yadav said that the family of the deceased could not perform the last rites until the Electricity Authority Office Gaushala and the Tata Supply office in Bardibas gave a written commitment to provide appropriate compensation, so initiatives have been taken to arrange compensation.
