Sundar Pichai Gave Warns About AI

Nov 18, Kathmandu - Sundar Pichai, CEO of Alphabet, the parent company of American multinational search engine company Google, has warned about Artificial Intelligence (AI).

He says AI should not be trusted “blindly.” AI models are prone to making mistakes, so people should only use them in combination with other tools, Sundar Pichai said in an exclusive interview with the BBC.

“This alone shows the need for the information ecosystem to be diverse and rich, so that people are not solely dependent on AI technology,” Pichai said.

Sundar Pichai has also warned about the AI boom in investment. Pichai's comments come at a time when concerns are being raised in Silicon Valley and elsewhere that an AI "bubble" (a situation where the share prices of AI companies have skyrocketed) is not forming.

The value of AI tech companies has risen rapidly in recent months. Many companies are investing heavily in the industry.

When asked if Google would be affected by an AI bubble bursting, Pichai said the company could face such a potential situation.

"I don't think any company is completely safe from this, not even us." But he warned.
