Clashes in Simara Spark Curfew and Ongoing Protests

Nov 20, Kathmandu - Tensions have also been high on Thursday over the clash that took place in Simara, Bara.

The Gen-Z have been protesting at Simara Chowk since 11 am on Thursday. They have also used light force to control the crowd. A curfew has been imposed in the Simara area to control the situation.

According to Assistant Chief District Officer Chhabiraman Subedi, the curfew has been imposed from 12:45 to 8 pm.

The Gen-Z had started the protest saying that those who had filed a police complaint regarding the clash in Simara on Wednesday had not been arrested. The police have taken two of the people who had filed a complaint into custody.

Chief District Officer Dharmendra Kumar Mishra said that Dhan Bahadur Shrestha, ward chairman of Jitpur Simara Sub-metropolitan City 2, and Kaimudin Ansari, ward chairman of Ward 6, have been arrested.

Six Gen-Z were injured in the clash on Wednesday. The Gen-Z had filed a complaint against six people. Gen-Z has filed a complaint against UML cadres over the scuffle that took place at Simara Chowk with UML and Gen-Z youth. Gen-Z District Coordinator Samrat Upadhyay said that the protest was held again because the accused was not arrested.

The clash between Gen-Z and UML cadres on Wednesday had turned tense and turbulent throughout the day.
