Nov 21, Kathmandu - Nepali Communist Party leader Barshaman Pun has said that Nepal's peace process is exemplary and original for the world. Referring to the day the Comprehensive Peace Agreement was signed (5 Mangsir, 2063), Pun said at a program organized by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Tribhuvan University in the capital on Friday that the experience of Nepal's peace process will be useful for conflict management around the world.
Discussing that the main causes of the conflict were class, ethnic, regional, gender and cultural discrimination, he mentioned that efforts were made to end these discriminations through the constitution. He said that as per the then CPN-Maoist agenda, the backward classes, regions and marginalized communities were included in the mainstream of opinion through state restructuring.
Pun argued that the process of unbalanced development and resource distribution centered in Kathmandu after state restructuring was justified. In a separate context, Pun noted that there has been a significant change in the form, causes and effects of conflict on the global political stage in recent times, and its legacy is also visible in Nepal.
