Nov 22, Kathmandu - Kist Teaching Hospital has signed a formal collaboration agreement with Medanta Hospital in New Delhi, India, with the aim of strengthening and expanding its treatment services. The agreement was signed in the presence of Navneet Malhotra, Head of International Relations, Medanta Hospital, and Amit Kumar Ojha, General Manager, International Relations, at a program organized at Himalaya Hotel in Lalitpur.
Kist Teaching Hospital had recently received international health accreditation from NABH. Within a year of receiving the accreditation, the hospital has taken a new initiative of international collaboration.
According to the agreement, the two institutions will exchange technology, expertise and knowledge with the aim of achieving excellence in medical and surgical services. This is expected to further expand the state-of-the-art equipment and treatment services in Kist, and the treatment and monitoring services for complex diseases will be easily available in Nepal, said Hospital Director Prof. Dr. Suraj Bajracharya.
The collaboration will help expand specialized services, including heart surgery, bone marrow transplant, and radiation therapy. In addition, training and skill exchange opportunities will also be available for medical and technical staff.
A telemedicine system will be established between the two hospitals, and referral and treatment for critically ill patients will be facilitated through air ambulances.
Kist Teaching Hospital is a multi-disciplinary tertiary healthcare centre, while Medanta Hospital is considered a leading multi-speciality international healthcare institution in India. The collaboration has been named the Kisht-Medanta Health Partnership.
