Nov 22, Kathmandu - Kathmandu Gurkhas, who batted poorly in the second match of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) on Saturday, set an easy target of 135 runs for Biratnagar Kings.
Kathmandu, who batted first after losing the toss at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Stadium in Kirtipur, scored 134 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
Mohammad Adil Alam, who came in to bat in the last ball of the 12th over after losing the fifth wicket, top-scored for Kathmandu with 48 runs. He hit four fours and two sixes in 25 balls.
Before Adil went to bat, Kathmandu was at 56 runs for the loss of five wickets.
Santosh Yadav scored 26 runs in 24 balls. His batting was also important in boosting Kathmandu's batting. The second highest run scorer was opener Ben Charlesworth. He scored 32 runs in 33 balls with the help of 1 four and 2 sixes.
Ben was caught out by Biratnagar's Shubham Ranjane through Naren Bhatta. Opener Akash Tripathi was dismissed in the fifth ball of the first over without opening the account.
Opening order batsmen like Ricardo Vasconcelos and Pratik Shrestha could not score double runs. On the bowling front, Marchant de Lange dismissed opener Tripathi and batter Pratik Shrestha. He gave away 17 runs in his four overs.
Surya Tamang took the wicket of another important Kathmandu batsman Gerhard Erasmus.
Sandeep Lamichhane took one wicket. Pratis GC proved to be a costly bowler after bowling four overs. He gave away 37 runs.
