Nov 22, Kathmandu - The Information Systems Center of the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) has provided special training to community school teachers on the use of AI in teaching. A workshop titled ‘Empowering the Modern Educator: Tools and Techniques’ was held at the NAST office in Lalitpur on Friday.
The workshop was attended by 23 science teachers teaching in community schools in Chandragiri Municipality, Kathmandu. According to Pradeep Dhodari, coordinator of NAST's Information Systems Center, the training provided training on the correct and effective use of AI tools in the classroom. The teachers were facilitated by Sunil Kumar Gharti and Rahul Mahatha, authors and instructors of secondary level computer science books.
The training provided theoretical and practical knowledge on how to prepare sample question papers, create educational materials, and prepare project reports using AI tools like ChatGPT, DeepSeek, and Gemini.
Coordinator Dhodari said that the program was organized to reduce the existing ‘digital gap’ in Nepal and increasing digital literacy. He said, “Teachers have responded that the training was very informative. Now, NAST is planning to provide AI-related training to teachers of community schools in other municipalities of the Kathmandu Valley in a phased manner.”
