Kabul-Islamist Tensions Affect Afghan Immigrants in Pakistan

Nov 22, Kathmandu - The rising tension between Kabul and Islamabad has reportedly caused hardship for Afghan migrants living in Pakistan. They have been subjected to harassment and forced evictions.

The migrants have said that the tense political environment has made their daily lives difficult. According to Tolo News, police abuse against some Afghan migrants has become more serious in recent times, with police arresting them on the streets, in shops and at home, and taking bribes.

Video footage posted on social media by Tolo News shows Pakistani police shouting slogans against Afghan immigrants during a public gathering and calling for their removal.

In response to these developments, migrant rights activists have warned against politicizing the issue, saying arbitrary arrests violate international law.
