Nov 23, Kathmandu - Nepal is preparing to make a strong impression at the upcoming World Powerlifting Championship, as a 34-member team, including 28 athletes, is scheduled to depart for Colombo, Sri Lanka, on Wednesday. The prestigious competition will be held from November 27 to 30.
The Nepali contingent features prominent athletes such as Aadesh Shrestha, Ankit Yonzon, Archana Manandhar, Asim Maharjan, Bhesh Kumari Aslami, Bikesh Shrestha, Bikin Joshi, Devaki Khadka, Dr. Jitendra Kumar Shah, Gyan Ratna Shahi, Jharna Yonzon, Kalpana Khatri, Laxmi Maharjan, Manoj Shrestha, Nimesh Chhukan, Ojas Charan Joshi, Poonam Chaudhary, Pramika Bista, Ramesh Shrestha, Rubi Shrestha, Sabita Hyaju, Savita Shrestha, Saman Madhikarmi, Saugat Karmacharya, Sharmila Shah, Sujit Anwale, Sukadev Karki, and Akrit Baniya.
The team is managed by David Pradhan, with Nikita Maharjan, Prashant Manandhar, Punit Shrestha, Rujesh Shahi, and Sujan Shrestha serving as coaches. The squad was bid farewell by Tanka Lal Ghisling, Member-Secretary of the National Sports Council, during a ceremony on Sunday.
Nepal aims to showcase its strength and bring home medals from this global event.
