Woman Murdered After Failing to Repay Rs 500 Loan

Nov 24, Kathmandu - A body was found on Saturday at the new bus park in Tokha Municipality-9, Kathmandu. Investigating officers initially assessed that the body was of a third gender. However, it has been confirmed that the body is a woman.

Doctors at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital have informed the investigating officers that the body is a woman after initial examination. The post-mortem report has not yet been received.

Police have arrested a person on charges of involvement in the murder. According to police sources, the arrested person is Surya Magar, a resident of Udayapur. Efforts are underway to identify the body that was found wrapped in a sheet and dumped on the road near the New Bus Park on Saturday.

The accused Surya Magar is a cook at a hotel in Bus Park. He had lent Rs 500 to the deceased woman. The police have concluded that he killed her after a 'dispute' broke out when she refused to return the loan amount. According to the officers involved in the investigation, Surya strangled the deceased to death.

The arrested youth has told the police that the deceased woman told him that her house was in Rukum when she spoke to him. However, Kathmandu SSP Ramesh Basnet said that efforts are being made to reveal the identity of the woman.

The District Police Range, Kathmandu has organized a press conference this afternoon to inform about the incident.
