Women's National Football Team Leaves for Indonesia Under Subba's Captaincy

Nov 24, Kathmandu - The Nepali national team, which is set to depart for the FIFA TIER 1 Tripartite International Women's Football Tournament to be held in Indonesia, was bid farewell today. All Nepal Football Association General Secretary Kiran Rai bid farewell to the 22-member team, led by captain Anjeela Subba.

The Nepali team will compete against teams from Indonesia and Chinese Taipei in the tournament to be held from Mangsir 2 to 3. Sabitra Bhandari (Samba) and Sabita Rana Magar will not participate in the tournament due to injuries.

General Secretary Rai said, "We have taken women's football forward through a club-based structure, as a result of which we now have 10 teams. It has been seen from some recent international matches that we can get excellent results."

Head coach of the team, Nabin Neupane, said that even though Samba could not play due to injury, it was an opportunity for other members of the team to showcase their talents in a match against a strong team. Team captain, Anjeela Subba, felt that such competitions would help them.
