Nov 24, Kathmandu - The air quality in New Delhi and its surrounding areas reached hazardous levels on Monday due to the recent increase in air pollution, with a thick layer of smog covering many areas of the Indian capital city.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board, the air quality index (AQI) in the eastern parts of Delhi and adjoining areas, especially -450, is considered 'severe' in terms of air pollution standards.
In the past few days, poor air quality in Delhi and its surrounding areas has caused people to have difficulty breathing and the number of patients suffering from respiratory diseases has increased in many government hospitals, according to local media.
As a precautionary measure, Delhi authorities have issued health advisories, advising locals not to engage in outdoor activities unless necessary.
