Nov 24, Kathmandu - In a bid to secure proper representation in the Nepal Health Professionals Council, six organizations have submitted a memorandum to the Ministry of Health and Population. However, they have expressed their dissatisfaction, stating that no discussions have taken place on this matter within the council so far.
The organizations include the Nepal Dental Science Hygienists Association, Nepal Public Health Association, Medical Laboratory Association of Nepal, Nepal Physiotherapy Association, Nepal CMO Association, and Nepal Vision Specialists Association. They have warned that if their demands are not addressed, they will be compelled to initiate phased protests targeting the council and the ministry.
The organizations have called for amendments to the council's Act 2053, specifically Clause 4, Sub-clause 3, to ensure the addition of qualified representatives. They also highlighted longstanding issues such as the 27-year delay in amending the council's law, 23 years without elections, and a lack of experienced members in the examination committee.
