Number of Cold and Cough Patients in Shukraraj Hospital's OPD Increases

Nov 25, Kathmandu- The number of patients with colds and fevers has increased at Shukraraj Tropical and Infectious Diseases Hospital, Teku, in the last week.

According to the hospital's director, Dr. Yubanidhi Basaula, the number of patients with colds and pneumonia has started increasing with the onset of cold weather.

He said, "The number of cold and cough patients in the OPD has increased. Admissions have decreased. 800 to 1,000 patients come to the OPD daily. Out of that, 40-50 people with cold and fever come for tests daily."

He said that it has been about two weeks since the number of patients with asthma, colds and fever started increasing. Although dengue infections are increasing across the country, the number of patients coming to the hospital for treatment has not increased significantly, says Dr. Basaula.

According to him, “Out of 18 tests conducted last night for suspected dengue, only 1 person tested positive. Even though cases have increased in some parts of the country, the number of patients in our hospital has not increased much.”

He informed that 19-20 people are getting vaccinated against the common cold every day as the cold weather worsens.
