You Can Now Send Files Directly from Android to iPhone

Nov 25, Kathmandu - Google's 'Quick Share' feature, which has been working smoothly between Android and Windows devices, will now work with Apple's 'AirDrop'. Google announced the new update through a blog on Thursday.

With this, two-way file sharing is now possible between Android and iOS devices. This feature is first available on the Pixel 10 series smartphones. The company has not revealed anything about when this feature will come to other Android devices.

According to the company, to share files between Android and iPhone, you will have to use AirDrop's 'Everyone for 10 minutes' mode. When using this feature, the data goes directly to the device without going to any server. Google has clarified that there will be no logs anywhere.

To use this feature, iPhone, iPad or Mac users need to go to their AirDrop settings and select the 'Everyone for 10 minutes' option. Android users can then go to ‘Quick Share’ and select a nearby Apple device.

Once iPhone users ‘Accept’ the notification, the file will be transferred. Google has said that strict security measures have been adopted for this feature. Although it currently only works in ‘Everyone for 10 Minutes’ mode, Google has said that it will work with Apple to bring a ‘Contacts Only’ mode in the future.
