Shooting near White House: Two National Guardsmen seriously injured

Nov 27, Kathmandu - FBI Director Kash Patel says two National Guard members have been seriously injured in a shooting in Washington, D.C.

Authorities say the shooter opened fire on the National Guard members at 2:15 a.m. local time. The incident occurred near White House.

Law enforcement sources told CBS News that the suspected attacker is Rahmanullah Luckanwal, an Afghan national who came to the United States in 2021.

The suspect was also injured in the encounter and was taken to the hospital. US President Donald Trump said the suspect was “in serious condition”.

Meanwhile, West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey initially said both National Guard members had been killed, but later wrote that he was receiving conflicting reports about their conditions.

According to US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, President Trump has ordered the deployment of 500 additional National Guard troops to Washington, DC, following the attack.
