Four Arrested for Looting Gold and Cash in Kathmandu

Nov 27, Kathmandu - Police have arrested four people on charges of robbing various items, including gold and cash, from Nepaltar in Tarakeswar Municipality, Kathmandu. A team deployed from the District Police Range, Kathmandu, arrested them for robbing gold, cash and various items from a female employee working at a bank and made them public on Thursday (Mangsir 11).

Those arrested are Ishwor Budhathoki, 27, a resident of Syangja and living in Tarakeswar, and Bishal Rai, 20, Sajan Tamang, 18, and Sameer Tamang, 19, from Nuwakot. They are accused of robbing a woman on Mangsir 11 and are absconding.

District Police Range Kathmandu spokesperson and SP Pawan Kumar Bhattarai informed that they were arrested on charges of robbing a woman's bag containing cash, gold, bank keys, mobile set and important documents while she was walking home in the evening.

They had come on a motorcycle and robbed her and fled. Police have recovered 12.630 grams of gold earrings, a 7.8-carat gold top and Rs 2,500 in cash from the arrested persons, along with mobile phones, key chains and other items.

The police have said that the four arrested persons have been remanded in custody for five days by the Kathmandu District Court and are being investigated.
