Nov 27, Kathmandu - Nepal Rastra Bank Limited has introduced a new one hundred rupee note into circulation from today (Mangsir 11).
The new note, signed by outgoing Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari, has been introduced by the National Bank of Nepal. The note has the code number 20 A 000001 to 40 G 999999, the National Bank has stated. It says, ‘If you come to demand payment of the money guaranteed by the Government of Nepal, you will get Rs 100 and Rs 100 immediately from the Nepal Rastra Bank.’ The note has a picture of Mount Everest on the left side, a water seal of Laligurans on the right, a map of Nepal including Limpiyadhura and Lipulekh in the middle, a picture of the Ashoka Pillar in the middle, and a black dot for the visually impaired to identify the note, the central bank has stated. The note is 2 mm wide and has a color-changing security thread (red when the note is viewed straight and green when tilted), the central bank has stated.
In Nepali, ‘2081 BS’ is written. Earlier, the Rastra Bank had said that from 2076 BS Asoj 7, 100 rupee banknotes with code numbers O 18 000001 to A 37 999999 would be put into circulation. However, the Rastra Bank has stated that only 18 O 000001 to 19 A 19 034500 have been put into circulation.
