Delay in Hearing for Rabi Lamichhane and Chhabilal Joshi in Cooperative Fraud Case at Pokhara High Court

Nov 27, Kathmandu - The hearing scheduled today at the 3rd Bench of the Patan High Court in Butwal for the Supreme Cooperative Fraud Case has been postponed once again. The case involves Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), and former director of Gorkha Media, Chhabilal Joshi, both currently in custody.

The postponement occurred after Lamichhane's legal team requested the court to delay the hearing, according to court information officer Ram Bahadur Kunwar. This is not the first delay; previous hearings have been postponed due to the absence of the main indictment requested by the Supreme Court or due to their appearances in other courts.

Both Lamichhane and Joshi are accused of cooperative fraud, with a collective claim of NPR 10.99 million. Although they have deposited NPR 2.74 million as bank security for their share, their release has been delayed due to unclear individual liabilities.

Currently, Lamichhane is detained at Nakhu Jail in Lalitpur, while Joshi is held at Bhairahawa Jail.
