Nov 28, Kathmandu - The Kathmandu Gurkhas have faced an early setback in the 15th match of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) second edition. After being put to bat by the Chitwan Rhinos at the TU Cricket Ground, Kathmandu managed only 39 runs for the loss of 3 wickets during the powerplay.
Chitwan Rhinos won the toss and elected to field first, a decision that paid off quickly as their bowlers applied early pressure.
Kathmandu lost opener Akash Tripathi as the first wicket to run out. He scored 4 runs in 5 balls with 1 four before being run out in 1.6 overs by a direct hit from Arjun Saud. The second wicket went to Rashid Khan, who came one down. He was caught by Ravi Bopara off Ranjit Kumar. He scored only 6 runs.
The third wicket went to another opener, Ben Charlesworth. He scored 13 runs in 14 balls with 2 fours. He was caught by Ravi Bopara by Sohil Tanvir. Milind Kumar 1 and John Simpson are unbeaten on 14 runs after 6 overs. Ranjit Kumar and Sohil Tanvir took 1 wicket each for Chitwan. This is Chitwan's fourth match.
Earlier, Chitwan defeated Karnali Yaks by 4 wickets in the first match. Chitwan, who lost to Lumbini Lions by 6 wickets in the second match, defeated Biratnagar Kings by 48 runs in the third match. This is Kathmandu Gorkhas' fifth match. They defeated Janakpur Bolts by 5 wickets in the first match. They lost to Sudurpaschim Royals by 29 runs in the second match.
