Nov 28, Kathmandu - Kathmandu Gorkhas defeated Chitwan Rhinos by 53 runs in the Nepal Premier League (NPL) Season-2.
Chasing a target of 143 runs set by Kathmandu, Chitwan were bundled out for 89 runs in 17 overs and 2 balls. Dev Khanal and Ravi Bopara scored 21 runs each for Chitwan. Shohil Tanvir scored 18 runs while the other batsmen failed to score in double figures.
Kathmandu's Rashid Khan took the most wickets in bowling with 3. Captain Karan KC, Shahab Alam and Milind Kumar took 2-2 and Santosh Yadav took one wicket.
Earlier, Kathmandu, who had batted first after losing the toss at the TU Cricket Ground, were all out for 142 runs in 19 overs and 4 balls. John Simpson scored the highest score of 60 runs for Kathmandu. He hit 3 fours and 5 sixes in 29 balls.
John and Milind shared a 98-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Milind contributed 38 runs. Ben Charlesworth 13, Akash Tripathi 4, Rashid Khan 6, Mohammed Adil Alam 8, Gerard Erasmus 0, captain Karan KC 1, Santosh Yadav 0 and Dipesh Kandel were out for 6 runs. Shahab Alam remained unbeaten on 2 runs.
Sohil Tanvir of Chitwan took 4 wickets in bowling. He bowled 4 overs and took 4 wickets for 25 runs. Ranjit Kumar and Kamal Singh Airi took two wickets each and Ravi Bopara took one wicket.
Kathmandu has won its third NPL victory. Chitwan has suffered its third defeat.
