Nov 29, Kathmandu - A free eye camp was held at the Srinagar Health Post of Adanchuli Rural Municipality in Humla.
In the free eye camp and cataract surgery camp that began on Thursday, 40 people underwent cataract surgery and one underwent trigeminal surgery, said Binod Budha, coordinator of Adanchuli Rural Municipality Health Branch.
The three-day camp, organized with the financial and technical support of Nepal Netrajyoti Sangh Humla Branch, Himalaya Eye Hospital Pokhara under Nepal Netrajyoti Sangh, and in coordination with Adanchuli Rural Municipality, provided free eye tests, medicine distribution, cataract surgery, and glasses.
The camp, which was organized targeting patients from neighboring rural municipalities including Adanchuli Rural Municipality, Mugu's Soru, Humla's Tanjakot, and Sarkegad Rural Municipality, provided services to the health team led by Dr. Anil Parajuli, an ophthalmologist serving at Himalaya Eye Hospital Pokhara.
Ophthalmologist Dr. Parajuli said that all the service recipients who were diagnosed with cataracts were operated on free of cost. Children, senior citizens and service recipients with eye problems have benefited from the camp. He said that additional treatment and glasses were distributed to children with low vision and differently abled service recipients as per their needs.
The Nepal Red Cross Society branch and the District Eye Treatment Center were in coordination to run the camp.
