Dec 01, Kathmandu - Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal on Monday inspected the Gauriphanta border crossing between Nepal and India, located on the border of Kailali and Kanchanpur. Minister Aryal, who arrived in Dhangadhi on Monday for the Far Western Province-level security seminar starting on Tuesday, inspected the Gauriphanta border crossing, Trinagar Customs Office in Kailali, and the Armed Police Force Nepal's Doke Border Outpost in Kanchanpur, and took stock of the overall situation there.
During the observation, Minister Aryal directed the heads of the concerned customs and security agencies to further tighten the measures to curb revenue leakage at the Gauriphanta border crossing and other illegal border crossings. Minister Aryal also directed the heads of the concerned customs and security agencies to identify and increase monitoring of groups that regularly, organizedly and professionally import goods by evading customs duties, to facilitate the daily livelihood of Nepali citizens.
At the Gauriphanta border crossing, Minister Aryal had a brief conversation with a police officer of the Indian Border Security Force. Similarly, Minister Aryal was also interested in efforts to control the illegal trafficking of Nepali girls across the border.
Similarly, Minister Aryal inspected the dry port being constructed at Chandni Dodhara-1 in Kanchapur today. During the visit, Minister Aryal spoke to the contractor company and the Nepali people living on the border about the problems of flooding and smoke.
