10 Afghans Killed in Security Forces Firing on Iran Border

Dec 02, Kathmandu - Ten Afghans were killed when security forces opened fire on Afghans near the Iranian border in western Afghanistan's Farah province, the provincial police office said in a statement on Tuesday.

Provincial police spokesman Mawlawi Mohammad Nasim Badri said in a statement that Afghan residents of Farah province were trying to enter Iran when security forces deployed on the Iranian border opened fire and killed them on the spot.

Iran has expelled thousands of Afghans this year alone and urged foreign nationals living in the country without legal documents to leave. Despite this, many Afghans are reported to leave their homeland daily for Iran and other countries to escape unemployment and poverty.
