Corruption Scandal: AAI Files Charges Against Seven Officials and Organization for Misappropriation of Public Funds

Dec 02, Kathmandu - The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority has filed a corruption case against seven people, including the then-acting Chief Administrative Officer of the municipality, Ram Prakash Shah.

The Commission filed a corruption case against seven people, including the then Chief Administrative Officer Shah, and the Sarita Foundation Kathmandu, in the Special Court Kathmandu today on charges of corruption by damaging public property.

A case has been filed against the then acting Chief Administrative Officer of the municipality, Shah, Assistant Accountant Bibek Kumar Sahni, Assistant Level 5 Ram Naresh Prasad Yadav, Assistant Computer Operator Umesh Kumar Das, Kharidar Kaushal Kishore Chaudhary and Chhote Lal Mishra.

Similarly, the commission has named Sarita Foundation Kathmandu and Sarita Kumari Sah, the director of Sarita Foundation, as defendants, demanding compensation of Rs 998,921 each.

A complaint was filed against them alleging that they had embezzled Rs 500,000 by cutting a check in the name of Sarita Foundation without approving the budget for the fiscal year 2077/078.

Based on the same complaint, during the investigation, the authority concluded that the defendants had embezzled Rs 998,921 in government funds with malicious intent. The charge sheet was filed demanding compensation and punishment equal to the same amount.
