Dec 05, Kathmandu - The Election Commission has called for applications from political parties wishing to participate in the proportional representation election system for the House of Representatives elections.

The Commission, in a notice published on Friday, has urged political parties wishing to participate in the system to submit applications from 10 am on Mangsir 21 to 4 pm on Mangsir 23, as the program for the system will begin from Saturday, as per the approved election program.

The Commission has already established an election officer's office at the Commission's Kantipath office since last Sunday for the proportional electoral system. Commission Secretary Mahadev Pantha has been designated as the election officer for this system.

The commission will publish the list of political parties that have submitted applications from 10 am to 4 pm on Mangsir 24. Political parties that have applied in this way have been given the deadline to submit their closed lists of candidates from 10 am to 4 pm on Paush 13 and 14, informed commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai. There are now 90 days left until the election date to be held on Falgun 21.

According to the election program for the first-time (direct) elected candidate, the nomination papers of the candidates will be registered on Magh 6. The program for publishing the list of candidates has been fixed on the same day. The time for filing a complaint against the candidacy has been fixed on Magh 7.

The list of candidates will be published on Magh 8. Similarly, candidates will be able to withdraw their names on Magh 9 and the final list of candidates will be published on the same day and the election symbol will be given to the candidates. The Commission is also preparing for the National Assembly election on Magh 11.
