Improvement in Canada's Labor Market

Dec 06, Kathmandu - A total of 54,000 people were employed in Canada in November, a 0.3 per cent increase in total employment, Statistics Canada said.

The employment rate rose 0.1 percentage point to 60.9 per cent, while the unemployment rate fell 0.4 percentage point to 6.5 per cent, according to the monthly report.

Employment growth was seen in health care and social assistance, housing and food and beverage services, and natural resources. However, employment declines were reported in the wholesale and retail trade sector.

In November, 73.6 per cent of employees felt their jobs were secure, a 4.1 percentage point decrease from November 2023, Statistics Canada said.
