Dec 08, Kathmandu - Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagdish Kharel has inspected the Ncell office in Nakhu. Minister Kharel was welcomed by Ncell Chairman Satish Lal Acharya and CEO Michael Foley and informed about the damage caused during the Gen-Z movement.
Ncell is providing services from its office at Nakhu after the central office of Ncell in Lainchaur was damaged due to vandalism, looting and arson during the Gen-Z movement on Bhadra 24. According to Ncell, the damage caused due to vandalism and arson in various places in the country during the Gen-Z movement was around Rs. 650 million.
After the inspection, Minister Kharel said that he had come to inquire about the damage caused to Ncell. He also mentioned that he was happy to hear that Ncell was going to bring a 'pack' targeting Gen-Z.
"I had asked them to do something for students and Gen-Z, they have said that they will bring a new package, in addition to that, they have told their plan to increase telecom access to the Everest base camp and some remote places," Minister Kharel said. He also said that Ncell had suffered a major loss and was ready for any possible help from the government.
According to Ncell, the company is preparing to launch a pack targeting GenG and announce a GenG scholarship worth Rs 10 million to 100 students across the country. Minister Kharel was informed by Ncell that it is expanding its '4G' service by adding five more towers to Gorakshep in the Sagarmatha region.
