Former President Bhandari Inspects Parliament Building Damaged in Gen-Z Movement

Dec 11, Kathmandu - Former President Bidhya Devi Bhandari visited the Federal Parliament building in New Baneshwor to assess the damage caused by recent arson and vandalism incidents.

On Bhadra 23 and 24, during the Gen-Z movement, the Parliament building sustained significant damage. Bhandari toured the premises today to inspect the extent of the destruction. During her visit, House of Representatives Speaker Devraj Ghimire and National Assembly Chairman Narayan Prasad Dahal briefed her on the incident details and the damage inflicted on the structure.

Expressing her brief reaction, Bhandari expressed her sorrow upon seeing the extent of the damage.

During the protests, the Parliament building and some other structures were set on fire, vandalized, and suffered extensive damage. Before the reconstruction process could begin, the government is reportedly preparing to operate from the newly under-construction Parliament building within the Singha Durbar complex.
