Dec 11, Kathmandu - With the handover of Dhankuta Hospital to the Manmohan Technical University of the Koshi Province Government, B.Sc. Nursing classes for the medical stream are set to begin.
As per the directives of the regulatory body, the Medical Education Commission, the B.Sc. Nursing curriculum has been prepared, and as per the commitment of the Koshi Province government, Manmohan is preparing to conduct the class at Dhankuta District Hospital from the next academic session as soon as possible.
University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Subash Shree Pokharel informed that the provincial government decided in last Jestha and initiated the process to hand over the Dhankuta Teaching Hospital to Manmohan and after the agreement is finalized, the B.Sc. Nursing class will be started from the next academic session. He said, 'We will have acquired the Dhankuta Hospital by next Magh and will also start the nursing course by Baisakh.'
Manmohan, the country's first technical university established by the provincial government in 2076 BS, has stated that it has not been able to operate medical programs due to delays in obtaining a teaching hospital.
Vice Chancellor Dr Pokharel said that despite developing a curriculum for the health technician program, the university is waiting for the government's final agreement decision as the hospital has not been acquired.
'Manmohan has already submitted the draft agreement to the Koshi government for the agreement. However, the government's Ministry of Health has not taken the agreement process forward,' he said.
Manmohan Technical University has prepared a new curriculum for the four-year B.Sc. Nursing program from the School of Medical and Health Sciences as per the standards set by the Medical Service Commission. The curriculum has been inspected by the Director of the Medical Education Commission, Prof. Dr. Sujababu Marhatha.
Manmohan Technical University has so far been teaching Civil, Electrical and Electronics, Pharmacy, five-year BBA/LLB postgraduate LLM and Hospital Management through its own constituent campuses.
