Nepalese Para Table Tennis Player Wins Silver at Asian Youth Para Games in Dubai

Dec 12, Kathmandu - Nepal’s para table tennis player, Swikrit Neupane, has secured a silver medal at the ongoing Asian Youth Para Games in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Competing in the U-23 Men’s Singles (Class 7) category, Neupane showcased remarkable talent on the international stage.

In the final held on Thursday, Neupane narrowly lost to Chinese Taipei’s Huang Ren Ting in a thrilling 3-2 set battle. He clinched the first set 13-11 and the third 12-10, but was defeated in the second set 6-11, the fourth 5-11, and the decisive fifth set 10-12.

Neupane advanced to the finals after defeating the Philippines’ Barge Cabanero 3-1 in the semifinals, with set scores of 11-9, 11-8, 5-11, and 11-9. He had earlier made his way to the knockout stage by defeating players from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Iraq in the group phase.

The Nepalese team also participated in athletics, taekwondo, and weightlifting, with women’s participation led by Nirmala Bhandari. The national para table tennis federation, based in the UAE, was represented by President Ganesh K.C., who shared these details.

The Asian Youth Para Games, which began on Mangsir 28, will continue until November 28, featuring multiple sports and athletes from across Asia.
