Fire at Waste Management Centre Causes Rs. 6.7 Million of in Damage

Dec 12, Kathmandu - A fire broke out at the waste management and resource centre in Punyapur, Rapti Rural Municipality-2 here, causing damage worth Rs 6.7 million.

A trust building, along with large and small machines, tiles and interlocks, were destroyed in the fire that broke out this morning, according to the District Police Office's Information Officer and Deputy Superintendent of Police Chakra Bahadur Shah.

A house built for waste management also burned down due to the fire. Rapti Rural Municipality had previously been managing waste here.

The fire was extinguished in about two hours with the help of the fire brigade of Gadhwa, the mini fire brigade of Rapti Rural Municipality, and a dozer.

The cause of the fire has not been identified and further investigation into the incident is underway, according to the police.
