Dec 12, Kathmandu - The Secretariat meeting of CPN (UML), which has been ongoing for more than two hours, is currently deliberating on a proposal to amend the party's constitution.
According to participants, the discussion arose after the faction led by Chairman KP Sharma Oli proposed amendments to include additional office bearers and central members. However, senior Vice President Ishwor Pokhrel's faction has expressed opposition to these proposals.
A party official present at the meeting stated, "Members are sharing their views on the proposed amendments. Discussions are ongoing, and no decision has been made yet." The official added that topics such as the management of delegates for the upcoming 11th General Convention, scheduled to start on Saturday, are also being discussed.
The official further explained, "There is a proposal to make changes similar to those made in the 10th General Convention, which involved appointing 19 office bearers. No decision has been finalized yet." The participants are also discussing whether to follow the structure established during the 10th Convention, with some supporting the current framework.
