UML General Convention Inauguration Site Sees Huge Buzz, Security Tightened

Dec 13, Kathmandu - The UML 11th General Convention inauguration venue, Sallaghari, Bhaktapur, is in full swing.

UML supporters, observers, and general convention delegates have started gathering to participate in the inauguration ceremony.

10,000 volunteers and a large number of police have been mobilized for the security of the general convention. Security checks are being carried out by wearing 'metal detectors' to enter the venue.

Chairman KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to inaugurate the general convention program at 12 noon. UML has claimed that it will hold its biggest meeting ever. It has brought vehicle reserves of cadres from all over the country to Kathmandu.

Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Nepali Communist Party leader Dev Gurung, National Independent Party working president DP Aryal, RPP president Rajendra Lingden, Janata Samajwadi party president Upendra Yadav and other leaders are scheduled to extend their best wishes at the general convention.

Nepali Communist Party coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal has reached Surkhet to address the party unity message gathering. Chairman Oli had invited him as a guest by telephone.

"It is difficult to be the chairman as the Surkhet unity message gathering and the UML general convention are competing," said Dahal's chief personal secretary Govinda Acharya.
