Dec 13, Kathmandu - Lumbini Lions have won the Nepal Premier League (NPL) Season 2 final by defeating Sudurpaschim Royals. Lumbini, who looked weak at the beginning of the league stage, made a great comeback and took home the title.
Lumbini, who had suffered three defeats until their fourth match of the league stage, was under pressure at the beginning.
However, Lumbini won the title by winning 6 consecutive matches, including the last three of the league stage. This is seen as Lumbini's great comeback.
Sudurpaschim, on the other hand, is satisfied with being the runner-up. This team was the runner-up in the first season as well.
Lumbini, who lost the toss at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Stadium and came out to bat in response, scored 86 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 8 overs and 6 balls and won easily.
This is the first match in the ongoing season where the target was achieved in fewer overs. In the league stage match, Biratnagar Kings achieved the target set by Sudurpaschim in 11 overs and 5 balls.
Opener Dinesh Adhikari batted explosively for Lumbini's victory. He scored 42 runs in 13 balls with the help of 1 four and 5 sixes.
Captain Rohit scored the second highest 16 runs. Opener D'Arcy Short scored 14 runs. Sandeep Jora was out for naught. Dilip Nath scored 1 run unbeaten.
Sudurpaschim, who performed poorly in batting, also showed weakness in bowling. Captain Dipendra took 1 wicket in 2 overs and gave away 29 runs.
Scott Kuggeleijn remained wicketless in 2 overs and gave away 22 runs.
Hemant Dhami took the highest 2 wickets. Dipendra and Abinash Bohora took 1 wicket each.
