Yubaraj Gyawali and Ashtalakshmi Shakya to not Run for Any Position in the General Convention

Dec 14, Kathmandu - CPN-UML vice-chairmen Yubaraj Gyawali and Ashtalakshmi Shakya have decided not to contest for any post in the ongoing general convention. They have withdrawn from the contest saying that they will give opportunity to new candidates.

They made this announcement at the ongoing central committee meeting. Both of them have been openly supporting Ishwor Pokharel.

The Central Committee meeting is currently ongoing. In the meeting, Chairman KP Sharma Oli has proposed to increase the number of office bearers to 19 members. However, Oli's proposal has been rejected by Ishwor's Party.

The ongoing Central Committee meeting has been prolonged after a consensus was not reached on Oli's proposal, while the closed session of the General Convention, which was scheduled to begin at 12:30, has been affected.
