Dec 14, Kathmandu - One hundred students have been distributed bicycles in Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha. Bicycles were distributed to students from 10 basic schools in Rupandehi and Kapilvastu on Sunday during a program organized at Akhanda Shanti Deep.
The bicycles were distributed to the poor, needy and talented students by Vinh Hoang Vanduk Company and Son Thong Vihar Vietnam, which produce and export seafood products in Vietnam.
70 girls and 30 boys from 10 basic schools in Lumbini Cultural Municipality of Rupandehi and Suddhodhan Rural Municipality of Kapilvastu have received bicycles. The organizers said that 100 bicycles were distributed to children studying in grades 7 to 11 to increase easy access to schools and support their studies. Company director Khan Truong and a Vietnamese monk said that they had accumulated spiritual virtue in Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, by distributing bicycles to the students.
At the program, Senior Information Officer of Lumbini Development Trust Dr. Haridhwaj Rai said that he was grateful from the bottom of his heart for coming to Lumbini from Vietnam to help Nepali children, motivated by the compassion, friendship and goodwill of Buddha.
