Balen said - We will make 1,859 ropani of land encroachment-free in the coming days

Dec 15, Kathmandu - Kathmandu Metropolitan City has celebrated its 31st foundation day with various programs.

On the occasion of the day, the metropolis organized a special function at the Military Forum, Tundikhel, in the presence of President Ram Chandra Poudel.

The ceremony showcased the tools and equipment used by the Metropolitan City for the delivery of urban services and facilities and urban management, and a cultural tableau was presented.

Addressing the foundation day ceremony, Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah said that the metropolis has adopted a policy of reducing office operating expenses and increasing them by giving special importance to capital expenditures.

He informed that 276 tangible heritage projects and 125 intangible heritage programs have been implemented during the heritage conservation work at a cost of about Rs. 910 million.

He said that the target is to make 1,859 ropani of land worth about Rs. 200 million free of encroachment in the coming days.

He informed that the metropolis has implemented health, education, employment promotion, environmental improvement and infrastructure programs with additional priority.

At the ceremony, the metropolis honored individuals who made outstanding contributions in various fields and awarded people's representatives who performed outstanding work on the occasion of the metropolis day.

The day when Kathmandu was declared Kathmandu metropolis on 29th Mangsir 2052 BS is celebrated as the metropolis day.
