Dec 15, Kathmandu - Nepal faced its second consecutive defeat in the ACC U-19 Asia Cup on Monday. In the Group B match, Nepal was defeated by Bangladesh by seven wickets.
The match was held at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates. Nepal set a target of 132 runs, but Bangladesh successfully chased it down in 24.5 overs with three wickets remaining.
Bangladesh’s opener Zawad Abrar was the top scorer with 70 runs, hitting seven fours and three sixes off 68 balls. Kalam Siddiki contributed 34 runs, while Rizan Hossan remained unbeaten on 12 runs.
Nepal’s Abhishek Tiwari and Yuvraj Khatri took one wicket each.
Earlier, Nepal batted first after losing the toss and was bowled out for 130 runs in 31.1 overs. Tiwari scored the highest with 30 runs. Captain Ashok Dhami made 23, Sahil Patel 18, and Niraj Kumar Yadav 14. No other batsman reached double figures.
Bangladesh’s Md Sobuj took three wickets, while Saad Islam, Sahrir Ahmed, and Azizul Hakim each claimed two wickets. Md Shahria-Al-Amin took one wicket.
Nepal previously lost to Sri Lanka by eight wickets in the tournament. The team’s next match is scheduled against Afghanistan on December 17.
