Dec 15, Kathmandu - The Nepal Teachers' Federation (NTF), Salyan District Committee, has submitted a formal request to the Education Development and Coordination Unit in Salyan to provide local allowances to teachers and staff.
According to the implementation guidelines of the Government of Nepal for the fiscal year 2080/081, various allowances such as salary, grade, Provident Fund, festivals, clothing, cost-of-living allowance, local allowance, technical allowance, and headteacher allowance are explicitly mentioned. However, to date, the local allowance has not been provided.
The request states that for the fiscal year 2082/083, the salary and allowances related to service benefits, which were previously incomplete, should be finalized and made available to teachers and employees as per the provisions outlined in point number 8.
In accordance with this, all permanent and temporary/contract teachers, technical stream instructors (grades 9–10), assistant instructors, and technical stream instructors (grades 11–12) across the country’s 39 districts are entitled to an annual local allowance equivalent to 10.5 months’ salary.
The Secretary of the Teachers' Federation, Shivalal Bhattarai, and President Laxmi Narayan K.C., have requested the Education Development and Coordination Unit to ensure the provision of the local allowance and monthly salary allowances from the first quarter of the fiscal year 2082/083, as per the rules.
