Dec 15, Kathmandu - The Thai military has expanded its offensive into Cambodia, affecting Cambodian territory and killing 12 civilians, the Cambodian Defense Ministry said on Monday.
Thai forces have expanded their airstrikes on various locations in northwestern Cambodia's Siem Reap province, the ministry said in a press release.
The death toll from the Cambodian civil war has risen and 74 others have been injured as the border conflict with Thailand escalates, Cambodian Interior Ministry spokesman Toch Sokhak told reporters on Monday.
Meanwhile, the number of displaced people in Cambodia has reportedly exceeded 403,000. Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, undersecretary of state and spokesman for the Cambodian Ministry of Defense, said that Thai forces continued to shell several locations in Cambodian territory from Sunday to Monday.
The Cambodia-Thailand border conflict has resumed since December 7, with both sides accusing each other of launching attacks.
