Actor Pradeep Khadka States He Is Ready to Enter Politics if the Nation Demand It

Dec 16, Kathmandu - Actor Pradeep Khadka has expressed his willingness to join politics if the country faces an unavoidable situation requiring such action.

Speaking to the media after meeting with Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Ravi Lamichhane at Nakhu Jail on Tuesday, Khadka shared his thoughts on the current political climate.

He conveyed his concern over the country's present state and the progress made in the past three months of the government, stating that he was troubled by the situation. Khadka emphasized that, as a vigilant citizen, he feels compelled to speak out against injustice.

Regarding his meeting with Lamichhane, Khadka clarified, “When the new government came into power, I hoped justice would be served. However, looking at the progress and events of the past three months, questions have arisen about why certain work is not being done. It seems the old government still has a watchful eye on certain individuals, and the current situation appears to be the same.”

He further added that the strength of the RSP lies in the hope and trust of the people, and recent developments have left him disappointed.

Khadka stressed the need for new and alternative political forces to unite. He questioned why old parties with differing ideologies cannot come together, and emphasized that emerging new forces like Balen Shah and Harka Sampang should unite instead of splitting votes.

“New parties should not just siphon votes from each other. Leaders like Balen Ji, Harka Ji, and others must come together,” he said. “If they find it difficult to unite, I am even willing to personally request them.”

Commenting on the significance of artists, often called the jewels of the nation, Khadka remarked that with the country’s image deteriorating, the value of such jewels diminishes. “Jewels look good only when the face is clean. When the country's image is tarnished, being a jewel has no meaning. Only when the country’s face improves will our status as jewels be meaningful,” he stated.

When asked about his potential entry into politics, Khadka said that his current focus remains on the film industry but that he will consider future decisions based on circumstances.

“I am currently enjoying my work in the film industry and want to contribute here for a few more years. However, if the situation arises where the country needs saving, not just me but everyone should step forward,” he asserted.

He criticized capable youth who prioritize family and personal interests, asserting that such attitudes have worsened the country's condition.

Khadka clarified that his visit to Lamichhane was not for promoting any film but out of a belief that governance should be based on law and order.

“I believe that if I make a mistake tomorrow, I should be given legal punishment, and no one should intervene,” he concluded.
