Dec 19, Kathmandu - Shiksha Bhattachan, the daughter of controversial businessman Devi Prakash Bhattachan, is also being investigated. Bhattachan, who is currently the chairperson of Prabhu Mahalaxmi Life Insurance Company, is being investigated for her alleged affair with an American citizen.

Devi Prakash Bhattachan, who is also the chairman of the Prabhu Group, was arrested by the Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police on Kartik 11. He was released on Kartik 15, citing health reasons. Prabhu Bank CEO Ashok Sherchan, who was arrested on Mangsir 14, and other officials are still in police custody. The police are investigating the Prabhu Group for taking loans from Prabhu Bank and misusing them. Shiksha Bhattachan is the managing director of the Prabhu Group.

According to police sources, two issues are being investigated regarding Shiksha Bhattachan. One is whether she is involved in the recent racketeering case and the other is her citizenship. According to a police officer, Shiksha Bhattachan is accused of being an American citizen and working as the chairman of a Nepali insurance company (public company).
