U.S. Deportates 75 Nepali Citizens via Charter Flight

Dec 19, Kathmandu - The US government has deported 75 more Nepali citizens.

75 Nepali citizens were deported to Tribhuvan International Airport on Thursday via a chartered flight. Three of them are women.

After their deportation, they were questioned by a team from the Police's Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau.

Two of the Nepalese who were returned in this way were on visit visa.

Bureau Chief and SSP Krishna Pangeni said that the others had reached America through the 'low route'.

'It has been seen that those who reached America through the low route have spent at least 2 million rupees. It has been found that they have spent a maximum of 10 million rupees,' he said.

Among those returned in this way, one is a person who has been living for 30 years.

Those who were returned were reportedly detained by the police for up to seven months.

666 Nepali citizens have been returned in the last seven years. Most of them were returned after Donald Trump was elected as the US President.

“Most of them are seen in the data of returns after the Trump administration came to power,” he said.

409 men and 30 women have been returned since the Trump administration.
