Dec 19, Kathmandu - CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that his party is not a party that will burn down Singha Durbar by hoisting the national flag.
He made the remarks while addressing the first meeting of the party's Central Committee elected by the 11th General Convention on Friday.
Chairman Oli, insisting that the UML is a democratic, true communist party, said that every member of it should work under strict discipline.
He also warned the party leaders and cadres not to act against the policies formulated through the collective efforts of the party. Chairman Oli also instructed the leaders and cadres not to use mobile phones during party meetings.
He said, "A true communist party like UML. This is not a fake cover, a fake party with other functions, like burning Singha Durbar wearing a flag. Such a party really needs strong discipline. I want to tell the comrades - our party is a democratic party. Therefore, every person is free. Every person is free to study, think, draw their own conclusions. And contribute."
He further said, "But in the name of freedom, in the name of our own studies and conclusions, we should not go against the party's policies and decisions, which are derived from our collective strength and efforts. We should not go against those collective efforts by saying that our personal interests are against the collective interest, our personal interests are against the national interest, our personal interests are against the national interest. That is not called discipline. And that is not discipline either. Mobile phones should not be used in meetings."
Chairman Oli also said that any party member who engages in activities that are against the national interest will not be tolerated.
