Rabi Lamichhane Secures Bail by Paying NPR 37.48 Million

Dec 19, Kathmandu - ​​​​​​​Rabi Lamichhane, the chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has been released after depositing a total of NPR 37.48 million as a bank guarantee.

According to information provided by officer Padam Aryal, Lamichhane paid this amount at the District Court of Rupandehi in Bhairahawa on Friday to secure his release.

The High Court of Tulsipur, in the bench of judges Vasudev Acharya and Tejnarayan Poudel, had ordered Lamichhane’s release on Thursday. The court also set certain conditions for his release.

In his application for bail, Lamichhane had agreed to pay the amount equivalent to NPR 2.74 million, which was considered as compensation for the alleged debt. The High Court accepted this and ordered his release.

Earlier, on Magh 13, the District Court of Rupandehi, presided over by Judge Prahlad Kumar Yogi, had ordered Lamichhane’s release on bail of NPR 10 million. The court had also instructed him to furnish this amount as security.

“Lamichhane had previously deposited a bank guarantee of NPR 27.48 million. Today, he has acknowledged this, and he has also paid the remaining security deposit of NPR 1 million, after which he was released,” said officer Aryal.
