Nepal APF Hospital Expands Services with 300 Beds

Dec 22, Kathmandu - Nepal APF Hospital has expanded its services to include 300 beds to provide quality and accessible health services to current and former Armed Police Force personnel, their dependent families, and the general public.

In line with the concept of upgrading the hospital, two new ‘Modular Operation Theaters’ have been constructed in the last three years and the Sahabir Thapa Oncology Unit has also been established and brought into operation, the Armed Police Force has stated.

The construction of basic infrastructure for the Medical College is ongoing. Telemedicine services are also being operated in all the offices of the Armed Police Force Nepal, which are connected to the intranet and internet. Due to this, patients who cannot come to the hospital will be able to easily receive health services.

The Ministry of Health and Population had granted permission to the Armed Forces to operate a 300-bed hospital in Asoj 2081. An agreement has been reached between the APF Hospital and the National Academy of Medical Sciences to operate educational and academic programs related to medical education in coordination with the Ministry of Health and Population.

Preparations are underway to construct structures including buildings, a nursing home, and a rehabilitation center to provide quality services to patients coming for treatment in a timely manner, upgrade the hospital, and develop the skills of the human resources working in the hospital, informed Shailendra Thapa, Joint Spokesperson of the Armed Forces.

To operate a burn treatment unit at Nepal APF Hospital and its subordinate hospitals, 22 health workers and Armed Police personnel are being provided with a five-day training at the Burn Hospital in Kirtipur, and the necessary infrastructure and equipment are being installed for the center.
