Condemnation of Israeli Decision to Approve New Occupied Settlements

Dec 23, Kathmandu - Canada has condemned Israel's decision to approve 19 new settlements in the occupied West Bank.

The continued expansion of settlements is contrary to international law and threatens the 20-point peace plan,” said Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand.

“Such steps clearly undermine the prospects for a two-state solution and undermine the ultimate goal of peace and security for the people of Israel and Palestine,” she added.

Israel's Security Council recently decided to recognize 19 new settlements in the occupied West Bank.

Far-right leader and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich submitted the proposal along with Defense Minister Israel Katz.

Smotrich said the decision was made to prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state. Saudi Arabia has also condemned Israel's move.
