Dec 26, Kathmandu - A young man serving a pre-trial prison sentence in a drug case has been arrested after escaping from prison and being involved in drug trafficking again.
Police arrested 26-year-old Rahul Tamang, who is a permanent resident of Phikkal Rural Municipality-6 in Sindhuli and currently lives in Chandragiri Municipality-10, from Balambu village area of Kathmandu.
According to the police, Tamang had been serving his sentence in a drug case at the Sindhuli Prison Office since Bhadra 20. However, he escaped from prison during a protest on Bhadra 24.
The police team was deployed after receiving a special tip-off that the absconding Tamang was involved in the sale and distribution of drugs again. Based on the same tip-off, he was taken into custody from Chandragiri Municipality-10, Balambu on Thursday, Paush 20, according to the District Police Office.
The police have recovered various types of drugs from the arrested Tamang.
• Diazepam injection (5mg/2ml) – 15 units
• Promethazine hydrochloride injection (25mg/2ml) – 18 units
• Buprenorphine injection (0.3mg/2ml) – 17 units
• Tramadol capsules (50mg) – 8,290 units
