71 Percent of Non-communicable Disease Patients in Nepal

Dec 27, Kathmandu - The Ministry of Health and Population of Madhesh Province has stated that 71 percent of patients in Nepal suffer from non-communicable diseases.

The Department of Food Technology and Quality Control, Janakpur, organized a public awareness program on ‘Improvement in Drinking Water to Reduce Non-communicable Diseases’ today and informed that non-communicable diseases are seen in about 71 percent of the population.

According to the information presented by the Ministry's Health Division Chief Dr. Bipin Kumar Jha, the number of patients with non-communicable diseases is increasing day by day. He said that currently, the number of patients with non-communicable diseases is increasing more than the number of patients with communicable diseases.

Dr. Jha informed that the main non-communicable diseases are heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and chronic respiratory diseases. He said that about 30 years ago, the World Health Organization had urged people to be aware and safe from non-communicable diseases as they are a complex problem.
